Mental Health Assessment

A Comprehensive Psychiatric Report

A mental health assessment gives you a complete picture of your mental health state. It also looks at how well you are able to think, reason, and remember (cognitive functioning). The doctor will ask you questions and examine you. He will assess your mood, behaviour, thinking, reasoning, and memory, and how well you can express yourself. He will also ask questions about how you get along with other people. This includes your family and friends.

The assessment usually includes:

  • An initial comprehensive 60 minutes assessment with the doctor;
  • Questionnaires and assessments including an online cognitive assessment test;
  • A final psychiatric report;

A mental health assessment can help find:

  • Mental health problems, such as anxiety disorders, depression, schizophrenia, ADHD, bipolar disorders, dual diagnosis and eating disorders.
  • Developmental problems, such as learning and intellectual difficulties.
  • Substance use, including substance use disorder.
  • Diseases of the nervous system
  • Other problems, such as thyroid disease and brain tumours.
